Liberia's education system is in critical condition. The 14-year civil war, which ended in 2003, left the educational system in crisis - with severely under resourced schools, and an entire generation of children who did not receive a formal education. The education sector faced another major setback during the Ebola outbreak (2014), when schools were closed for six months and the support of many international or​ganizations was temporarily put on hold. The impact of these tragic events continues to be felt and is evident in the country's low youth literacy rate (54.5%).

Enrich the Mind, a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organization, was established to improve the educational outcomes of students in Liberia. This foundation was born from the belief that education is the best remedy for poverty, and other social ills that plague the country; and our passion to help ensure that the youth of Liberia get the best education possible. Our vision is to unlock the full potential of our youth - one mind at a time - by championing literacy and equity in education.
