Virtual Testing Lab to Help Students Prepare for National Exams
Virtual Testing Lab to Help Students Prepare for National Exams
We believe that to increase the success rate on national exams, students need to start preparing several months in advance. In addition, their studies should focus on the concepts that they are struggling with. Using previous tests to prepare for the exam is a useful strategy. We are aware that copies of previous exams are available at the WAEC office, but they are for sale and many families may not be able to afford them. When students are able to purchase the exams, there is no solutions manual to help guide their studies.
Enrich the Mind is developing a testing lab where students can practice for the Liberia Junior High School Certificate Examination (LJHSCE) at any time, on a mobile device, tablet, or computer. Key features of the testing lab include:
- Practice tests for all subjects
- Hundreds of questions from previous exams
- Solutions to the problems with links to videos or study guides that further explain the topics.
Another important feature of the testing lab is that it will enable teachers to do targeted instruction and provide data for the MOE on areas that teachers may need more training. For example, after a student takes a practice test, the test is graded automatically, and we receive immediate feedback about the student’s performance including areas where he/she is struggling. The data can be used to 1) identify areas in which the student needs more individual practice, and 2) determine how well the instructors are teaching certain topics.
The testing lab will be piloted by the ninth graders at Newport Junior High School.
